Bezos' formula is about right. Everytime we add a person to a team we ramp up the complexity significantly. Too often teams are large because we "don't want to leave anyone out."
Remember that you can invite or get help from anyone whenever you need them - it doesn't mean they need to be on the team or attend every meeting.
Check your teams against the Bezos Formula.
