Kevin's Answers

You Asked:

"What are the key consulting skills?"

Kevin’s Answer:

As with any profession there are many skills that make someone highly proficient. There are three universal skills consultants must have to be supremely successful.

  1. They must be able to Design "it". Whatever their professional "it" is, consultants must be expert in their field, able to formulate solutions to the client's problems.
  2. They must be able to Deliver "it". They must be able to implement the solution into the client’s situation and help them make it successful.
  3. They must be able to Sell "it". Consultants must be able to sell their ideas, solutions, products and services to their clients to be able to continue in the role.

This simple set of skills provides a framework for the specific skills required of all consultants regardless of the specialty.
