Kevin’s Answer
Wow - This is a big question! And since this section won't support a book-length answer, let's derive some answers for the words Customer Service.
Customer. Great Customer Service starts with an understanding of who the Customer is, and how important they are. People need to realize that Customers aren't an imposition, they don't get in the way - that they are in fact the reason people have a job. Truly to the point, the Customer writes the paychecks! When people understand these principles at a deep level they will begin to have attitude shifts, which lead to more appropriate behaviors when helping Customers.
Service. One definition at http://www.dictionary.com reads, "An act of assistance or benefit; a favor". When people realize that Customer service is truly about service, then other attributes of great Customer service will surface as well. Things like listening, assuming the best, going the extra mile, resolving problems quickly etc.
Think about people who are really important in your life. Think about your behaviors and attitudes regarding serving (aiding, assisting, and helping) them. When people use those approaches with their Customers they more than satisfy them, they WOW them.
